The Pioneers competed in the Wisconsin Private School Invite that was hosted by Carthage College. Ripon College, Beloit College and Lawrence University rounded out the rest of the field that competed on January 27. The women took second among the five teams, gathering 161 points, while the men took fifth with 72 points.
Lindsey Coons led the lady Pioneers, as she placed in the top three in two events, while also being apart of the 200 yard medley relay that took third with a time of 1:55.08.
Kaitlin Squier,
Marissa Stacy and
Rowan Liederbach were the other members of the relay team. Coons took first place in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.24, while also taking second place in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:18.45.
Squier had a productive day in the pool as well. Besides being apart of the 200 yard medley relay, she gathered three other top three finishes. She finished in third place in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:33.77) and the 100 yard breaststroke (1:09.46), while also finishing in second place in the 200 yard IM with a finishing time of 2:19.06.
Stacy also added to her contributions to the team by securing a second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle (2:25.83) to go along with her participation in the 200 yard medley relay.
Sara Janz secured two third place finishes for the Pioneers, taking third in the 200 yard freestyle (2:04.86) and the 100 yard freestyle (57.27).
Amanda Klaeser and
Ally Osell also had solid outings for the Pioneers. Klaeser took second in the 1650 yard freestyle with a finishing time of 19:27.44. Osell took first place in the one meter dive with a score of 410.95.
The men were led by
James Kelly and
Aaron Talabac. Kelly took first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 21.79 seconds and second in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 49.29 seconds. Talabac secured second place in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:29.02. He also placed third in the 200 yard IM with a finishing time of 2:08.87.
The Pioneers will be back in the pool at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championships. The event runs from February 15 to February 17, and will take place in Kenosha, Wis
