Box Score MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Freshman guard Theresa Wichser (Waukesha, Wis.) scored a team-high 21 points with six baskets from 3-point range, 3 of 3 free throws, two steals and an assist in making her collegiate debut but it wasn't enough as the Carroll University women's basketball team lost to Milwaukee School of Engineering 58-56 in a hard-fought nonconference season opener at Hotchkin Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Tied 56-56 five seconds remaining in regulation, MSOE's Jamie Spanbauer converted two pressure-packed free throws to ensure a victory.
Sophomore forward Katie Rossetti (Wauconda, Ill.) contributed nine points and seven rebounds for Carroll, which made seven 3-pointers, 15 of 23 free throws and shot 35.4 percent from field-goal range. Freshman forward Kayla Stefka (Johnsburg, Ill.) followed with seven points, four rebounds and three blocked shots.
Sophomore guard Sierra Grubor (Milwaukee, Wis.) and freshman guard Alyssa Cruz (West Allis, Wis.) each added five points for the Pioneers.
