The men's tennis team took on Concordia University (Wis.) on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Moorland Tennis Center. The Pioneers defeated Concordia, six matches to three, starting them at 1-0Â for the new season.
The Pioneers were led by the senior trio of
Peter Jaeger,
Matt Michael and
Quentin Lamers, as they all picked up victories in singles and doubles action. Jaeger beat Concordia's Brad Guendel 6-1, 6-2, while Michael won his singles match 7-5, 6-4 against Concordia's Ceejay Schaffner. Jaeger and Michael also joined forces in doubles action, beating Guendel and Schaffner once more, 8-2.
Lamers defeated Concordia's Gabe Binversie 6-4, 6-4. He then joined fellow Pioneer
Joesph Harrison to beat Binversie and Nolan Rademacher in doubles action, 9-8 (9-7).
The men will take the court again on February 10, as they travel to Janesville, Wis. to take on UW-Whitewater at 11:30 AM.
