Coons Breaks Record as Swim and Dive Finish Three-day Meet at Carthage

Kenosha, Wis. – The Carroll University men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at the Annual Carthage Classic against seven other teams. The women competed well, finishing in fifth place with 1,510 points. The women saw 20 new personal best times and 32 season best times over the weekend. The men had 13 personal best times and eight season best times, but it was not enough and finished in eighth place with 414 points.
 
On Friday, Lindsey Coons broke the current Carroll record for the 100 yard IM with a time of 1:02.2 on her route to her silver medal finish in the same event. Coons would go on to finish in the top 10 two more times (200 yd backstroke, 100 yd backstroke). Ingrid Hay and Emily Wong finished in the top ten of four events each, including finishing fourth and fifth, respectively in the 200 yd IM.  Jordan Andrews (3), Erin Paschke (1), Madeline Nelson (2), Amanda Klaeser (1) and Kara Loy (1) all finished inside the top ten in at least one event as well. For the men, Michael Beckman was the only Pioneer to finish with a top ten finish in the 100 yd freestyle.

The Pioneers have a long rest in front of them before returning to the pool to face off against non-conference opponent St. Norbert in De Pere next month.
