WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll University (11-19, 3-11 CCIW) walked-off with a 4-3 win in game one before dropping game two 9-7 to Elmhurst College on Friday afternoon.
Senior righty, Cameron Godinsky (4-3) was stellar on the mound for the second straight start. Godinsky who was coming off a complete game shut-out of Millikin, retired the first 19 Elmhurst batters he faced Friday, working a perfect game through six and a third innings.
Elmhurst would break Godinsky's streak of 16 consecutive scoreless innings in the top of the seventh inning with three runs to take the 3-0 lead.
Dylan Callahan would lead off the bottom of the seventh with a homerun to leftfield to cut the Elmhurst lead to 3-1.
Alex Kermendy and Sam Harmeyer would both single to lead off the eighth and Ethan Fleigle would walk with one out to load the bases. Following a strike-out, Dylan Callahan would single to drive in two runs and tie the game at three.
Justin Baker would lead-off the bottom of the ninth with a single to centerfield and Matt Pestel would pinch-run for Baker. Pestle would advance to second on fielder's obstruction and move to third on a sacrifice bunt by Brad Vosters. Pestel would then score on a safety squeeze bunt perfectly executed by TJ Pfaffle to send Pestel across the plate for the walk-off 4-3 victory.
In game two, a pair of unearned runs in the top of the first would give Elmhurst the early 2-0 lead, a lead they would turn into a 9-7 win.
Carroll will travel to Elmhurst for the third and final game of the series on Saturday at 1pm.
