WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll University's
Mitchell Massino has signed to finish the season with the Mankato Moondogs, a member of the Northwoods Summer Collegiate League. Massino will be a junior during 2021 season, the first baseman is a native of South Beloit, Ill. (HONONEGAH H.S.). Massino started all eleven games in 2020 for the Pioneers and finished with a .324 average with four doubles and five RBi in the shortened season.
The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players. The 2019 season will mark the 26th season of the Northwoods League. It is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 22 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 200 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS) and World Series Champions Ben Zobrist (CHC), Brandon Crawford (SFG) and Chris Sale (BOS). As well as MLB All-Stars Jordan Zimmermann (DET) and Curtis Granderson (MIA).
