Women’s Golf Completes Fall Season at CCIW Championships

NORMAL, Ill. – The Carroll University women's golf team completed the fall portion of its 2021 season on Saturday afternoon in the CCIW Women's Golf Conference Championships. The Pioneers, who started in sixth place after day one, stumbled a bit on day two and finished eighth overall in the tournament.
 
Graduate student Abby Van De Hei was recognized by the CCIW as one of eight designees of the inaugural RESPECT Award. Recipients have distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution, and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration and Trust. Van De Hei, a graduate student in the Carroll PT program, finished the weekend, and her women's golf career tied for 35th with a 273.
 
Ashlyn Burdick led the way for the Pioneers over the three-round tournament. Burdick started slow on day one, finishing with an 88. Burdick worked way back up the leader board over the next two days, shooting an 86 for a team-low on Friday, and a team-low 85 on Saturday. Burdick finished tied for 28th with a 259.
 
Van De Hei improved on day three of the tournament by turning in an 87 to cap off her weekend with the 273. Van De Hei's 87 was the lowest round the graduate student from De Pere turned in this weekend and brought her career average to 98.0 on 50 career rounds.
 
Emma Meiss bounced back from a rough day two, shooting the third-lowest on the team with an 89 on day three. Meiss' three-round score came to a 274 in 38th place. Caroline Kroeninger started the tournament hot with a round of 84 but struggled on days two and three. Kroeninger finished with a 100 and 96 on days two and three for a combined round of 280. Shaelynn Feuerstein rounded out the Pioneer scores with a 295 (103, 94, 98), good for 44th place.
