KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carroll University men's indoor track and field team finished in sixth place in the 2022 CCIW Indoor Track and Field Championships with 63 points.
Steven Hermsen broke the school record in the men's shot put with a PR of 16.16 meters
On day two track events,
Kevin Lind raced to a fourth place finish in the 55-meter dash, and followed that up with fourth in the 200-meter dash later in the day.
Peter Marra came away with a bronze medal finish in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.08 in the finals.
Nathan Raatz hit 51.00 seconds even to take sixth place in the 400-meter race. The men's 4x400 relay team of Marra,
Troy Burkert,
Zach Benes, and Raatz finished with three team points with a sixth-place finish.
In field events on day two,
David Burgess leaped to a fourth place finish in the high jump, and a third place finish in the triple jump. Lind added to the triple jump points total for the Pioneers, finishing with a silver medal in the event. Hermsen's throw of 16.16 meters fell to second-place, but the senior PR'd in the event on his third throw of the day.
Some Pioneers will compete at last-chance meets next week in an attempt to increase their national rankings before the 2022 NCAA DIII Indoor National Championship meet.
