Hermsen Acknowledged as CoSIDA Academic All-America Member of the Year

AUSTIN, Texas – Steven Hermsen of Carroll University men's track and field was named the 2022 CoSIDA Division III Men's Cross Country/Track and Field Academic All-American® of the Year. Hermsen is the first-ever Pioneer to be named the team member of the year, and the first-ever Pioneer to be named Academic All-America® twice.
 
Hermsen, a senior from De Pere, Wisconsin, earns the acknowledgment for his athletic and academic prowess. Hermsen won his second-straight NCAA DIII National Championship in the discus event at the 2022 DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Hermsen is a four-time qualifier for nationals, including twice in his first-ever indoor event during the 2022 season. Hermsen is a three-time All-American in the discus and indoor weight throw. At the conference level, Hermsen was named the 2022 CCIW Men's Outdoor Track and Field Field Athlete of the Meet for the second-straight season, after scoring 24 team points, winning the discus throw, and breaking the CCIW discus throw meet record. Hermsen is a 14x CCIW All-Conference thrower and a three-time conference champion.
 
Academically, Hermsen finished his fourth year as a Carroll student-athlete with a 3.97 GPA. During the 2022 indoor season, Hermsen was named the NCAA DIII Men's Indoor Track and Field Elite 90 recipient, the NCAA's most prestigious academic award. Hermsen is an eight-time CCIW Dave Wrath Academic All-Conference selection, and is a four-time CCIW Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference award winner as well. . Hermsen was also named the 2021 USTFCCCA Male Scholar Field Athlete of the Year.
