Pios of the Week (4/6-4/12)

WAUKESHA, Wis. – This week's Pios of the Week for the week ending April 12 are Jenna Weis of women's track & field and Brian Smith of men's track & field following standout performances during a historic weekend across the Beloit Invitational and UW-Oshkosh Invitational.


Jenna Weis – Women's Track & Field

Freshman Jenna Weis, from Burlington, Wis., delivered an exceptional weekend for Carroll women's track & field, playing a key role in the Pioneers' team title at the Beloit Invitational while producing record-setting and nationally ranked performances.

Weis set a facility record in the pole vault at Beloit, clearing 3.70 meters to win the event and establish a new lifetime personal best. That mark currently ranks 16th nationally, placing her among the top vaulters in NCAA Division III. She followed up the vault performance by also capturing first place in the women's 200 meters, capping a dominant all-around day at Beloit.

Across the weekend, Weis contributed to Carroll's momentum with additional strong performances and continued development, helping the Pioneers combine for 76 personal bests across the two meets. Her ability to excel in both field and sprint events underscored her versatility and immediate impact during the outdoor season.


Brian Smith – Men's Track & Field

Freshman Brian Smith, from Lake Bluff, Ill., turned in a historic weekend on the track for Carroll men's track & field, highlighted by record-breaking and nationally ranked performances in the sprint events.

Smith broke the Beloit facility record in the men's 400 meters, winning the event in 48.00. That performance also set a new Carroll school record and currently ranks 24th nationally, marking one of the top times in Division III this season. Smith led a strong Carroll showing in the 400 meters, setting the tone for a successful weekend on the track.

In addition to his victory at Beloit, Smith continued to build momentum during the UW-Oshkosh Invitational as part of a weekend that featured PRs across multiple event groups for the Pioneers. His performances were a major highlight in a weekend defined by high-end excellence and program-wide growth.
