BELOIT, Wis. – The Carroll University men's outdoor track and field team recorded 147 team points and finished just a half point shy of first place at the Beloit Relays on Saturday.

Austin Sanderfoot,
Peter Marra,
Kevin Lind,
Carter Ratcliff, and
Steven Hermsen won events, while Hersmen broke the oldest school record in men's program history.
In track events, Marra won his third-straight 110m dash race, going sub 15.0 seconds for the first time this season, with 3.0 wind aid. Lind won the 100m dash with a time of 11.00 flat, aided by 2.3 wind. Ratcliff also supplied team points in the 100m dash too. Ratcliff won the 200m for his first collegiate win and set a new PR and team-best time of 23.02 with -2.1 wind. In some of the long-distance runs, Adams finished in the lead in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:02.16.
Ethan Weber finished in the top eight to score team points with Adams. Sanderfoot was the fastest runner in the 5000m run, coming in with a new PR at 15:46.56.
Ty Termaat finished top eight in the 5000m too, and
Nathan Raatz finished fourth in the 800m sub two minutes to score points for the team. The 4x100 relay team of Marra, Ratcliff,
Trenton Nickel, and Lind finished second with a time of 42.25, and Marra, Nickel, Adams, and Raatz won the 4x400 with a 3:22.51, all season-bests in the relays.
In field events, Hersmen won all three events he was featured in, highlighted by two new outdoor PRs and a record-breaking performance. Hermsen hit 16.02 meters in the shot put outdoors for the first time in his career and broke the school record held by Dave Christiansen since 1972. Hermsen also threw a career-best 57.05m in the hammer and surpassed 56 meters in the discus. The throwers of Carroll scored 47 more points outside of Hermsen, led by
Jimmy Hinkley in the hammer, Nickel in the Javelin,
Will Campbell in shot put and discus, and
Brady Reusser in the shot put and discus as well.
Carroll will face tough challengers at Wheaton next weekend, April 22.
