The Carroll men's golf team came into the spring looking to lower their overall team scores. The past couple of weeks the team has been working hard on swing mechanics and overall golf tactics. Those results are starting to pay off for the team. This past weekend the team competed in two separate tournaments that have led to teams overall score decreasing each event they play in. The recaps for both the Foresters Spring Invite and WLC Spring Invitational can be found below.
Forester Spring Invite
Vernon Hills, Ill. – The Carroll University Men's golf team headed down to White Deer Golf Course to compete in the Forester Spring Invite. The Pioneers finished in 13
th place with a score of 328.
Evan Bridges led the way for the Pioneers as she tied for 9
th place. Bridges shot a team low of 73, the senior finished with three birdies on the day and just four bogies to finish one over par.
Carroll's number 2
TJ Walton finished second in the group and finished T-20 with a score of 76. Walton finished with a team high four birdies, two bogies, and two double-bogies on the day.
Devin Wilde followed up shooting an 86 on the day. This would be a t-78
th finish for Wilde. He was able to finish with six pars on the day.
Drew Esveldt shot a 93 and finished in 98th. Esveldt started the day was not able to get a par on the front nine but rebounded and finished with two pars on the back nine.
Eli Allison went in as the no. 5 golfer for the Pioneers and finished 108
th with a 105.
WLC Spring Invitational
Waukesha, Wis. – The Carroll University Men's golf team headed to a familiar course for the team at Morningstar Golfer's Club. The Pioneers finished in 9
th place with a score of 315.
Evan Bridges once again led the way for the Pioneers as she tied for 7
th place. Bridges shot an even par 72 on the day, the senior finished with three birdies on the day and just three bogies to finish even
Carroll's
TJ Walton finished second in the group and just two strokes behind Bridges with a score of 74. This would earn Walton a T-13th finish. Walton would end up with three birdies and five bogies on the day.
Devin Wilde was Carroll's number three and shot an 81 on the day. This would be a t-44
th finish for Wilde. He was able to finish with three birdies, 8 bogies, and two double-bogies on the day.
Drew Esveldt shot an 88 and finished in T-63
rd. Esveldt was able to finish with five pars on the day and shoot a season-low score.
Eli Allison went in as the no. 5 golfer for the Pioneers and finished t-68
th with a 98.
The Pioneers will be back on course tomorrow, April 17, at the Firebird Men's Spring invite in Mt. Pleasant, Wis. hosted by Carthage.
