WAUKESHA, Wis. — The Carroll University men's golf team battled through tough weather conditions Friday and Saturday, finishing eighth out of 12 teams at the Morningstar Masters, hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College at Morningstar Golfers Club.
Competing on the par-72, 6,785-yard course, the Pioneers faced persistent wind and challenging scoring conditions throughout the two-round event. Despite the elements, Carroll put together steady all-around efforts across the lineup, finishing with a strong showing in a competitive field.
Carroll was led by Sigge Lundin, who posted rounds of 74 and 78 to finish tied for 31st overall at +8. Lundin was one of the most consistent performers for the Pioneers across both rounds, handling the conditions well on a course that played tough throughout the weekend.
Mathias Werring followed closely, carding rounds of 74 and 78 to also finish at +8, while Fernando Cirajas turned in scores of 78 and 81 to round out Carroll's top three. Both golfers battled the wind and maintained composure as conditions fluctuated over the two days.
Widar Burman Voss and Grant Naumann each added solid rounds for Carroll, both finishing at +11 for the tournament. Their contributions helped the Pioneers stay competitive as the course and weather tested the entire field.
Competing as an individual, Carter Morrison delivered the top round of the weekend for Carroll, shooting 74 in the opening round before following with a 75 to finish at +5 overall, placing him 22nd in a field of 69 golfers.
Overall, the Morningstar Masters served as a strong test early in the spring season, with Carroll continuing to gain valuable experience competing under difficult conditions. The Pioneers will look to build on the weekend as they move forward through the heart of the spring schedule, with their next event coming Thursday as they take part in the CCIW Preview at Aldeen G.C. in Rockford, IL
