Carroll Men's Golf Wraps up Season at CCIW Championship

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Carroll University men's golf team closed out the spring season with a ninth-place finish at the conference championship, completing the three-round event at +98 overall against a full nine-team field at Aldeen Golf Club.

Leading the way for the Pioneers was Grant Naumann, a junior from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, who finished 31st overall. Naumann delivered consistent rounds throughout the tournament, carding scores of 79, 78, and 80 to pace Carroll across all three days of competition.

Just behind him was fellow sophomore Carter Morrison of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, who finished 36th overall. Morrison opened the tournament strong with rounds of 78 and 77 before closing with an 84 in the final round, showcasing steadiness early in the championship.

Sophomore Fernando Cirajas, a native of Rio Grande, Spain, placed 40th at the event. Cirajas recorded rounds of 82, 86, and 77, finishing the championship with his best round coming on the final day as he closed the season on a strong note for the Pioneers.

Senior Mathias Werring of Oslo, Norway, competed in his final conference championship, finishing 41st overall. Werring posted rounds of 83, 85, and 78, rebounding with a solid final round as he wrapped up his Carroll career in postseason play.

Rounding out the lineup was junior Widar Burman Voss from Bromma, Sweden, who finished 44th overall with rounds of 86, 82, and 83. Burman Voss provided valuable depth to the Carroll lineup throughout the championship.

As a team, Carroll battled through challenging conditions and a demanding course setup over three rounds of play, ultimately finishing at +98 to conclude the conference championship. The tournament marked the end of the 2026 spring season for the Pioneers, who gained valuable experience across the lineup competing against the conference's top programs, as #9 Illinois Wesleyan took the title with an impressive +3 team finish. All in all, for a young squad, the Pioneers will have lots to build on as they move forward towards next season.
