Naperville, Ill. – The Carroll University men's golf team played in the final round of the 2023 CCIW Championship at Whitetail Ridge Golf Course today. Throughout the three days the Pioneers have gotten two eagles from
Evan Bridges and
TJ Walton; putting the team second in the CCIW Championship. The Pioneers finished in 9
th place with a score of 980.
Bridges came into the tournament as Carroll's number one golfer. Bridges delivered, finishing with a 54-hole career-low of 222. Bridges finished the final round with a 71. This would tie Bridges' career-low score. The senior finished with three birdies and just three bogies on the day. This final round would get Bridges a top five finish in the CCIW Championships and earning him the first CCIW all-conference spot since 1990.
Walton finished second in the group and shot a respectable 75 on the final day. The freshman would finish 19
th overall. Gain back five spots over the final round. Walton was able to grab four birdies today. This was a promising first CCIW Championships for the young freshman.
Devin Wilde finished an 83 on the day. This put Wilde in 41
st going after the three-day stretch. The senior shot a 252 54-hole round, which would a career-low to cap off the senior's career.
Drew Esveldt shot a 90 on the final day of play. The freshman made six pars on the day. This score puts Esveldt in 43
rd after all three rounds of play.
