APPLETON, Wis. - Carroll's men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Gene Davis Invitational Saturday morning, hosted by Lawrence University. There were 11 teams competing on both sides. The men placed 8th overall, with the women securing a 5th place finish in a large field of runners on a challenging course.
The Pio men scored 215 points in the meet, which was just 8 shy of 7th-place Monmouth College (IL).
Austin Sanderfoot led Carroll with an 8K time of 26:37.1, which was good for 14th place among collegiate runners.
Cameron Lotspeich was second on the team, in 33rd place, with a time of 27:14.5, while
Julian Bica Harrison was 54th with a time of 28:19.9.
Bailey Olson and
Donovan Menningen rounded out the top-five Pioneer runners with times of 28:42.9 and 29:21.6, respectively. Completing the top seven scorers for Carroll were
Patrick Signore and
Rogan Leistiko, who finished with times of 29:26.1 and 30:06.6, respectively.
On the women's side, the Pioneers finished with 170 points, 22 shy of Harper College's 4th-place total. Freshman
Hana Smith finished 25th overall in the collegiate field with a time of 25:19.4.
Brooke Davies was close behind in 29th place, crossing the line at 25:37.2. The next three runners to score points for the team finished beginning in 37th place, as
Gabrielle Holbrook,
Grace Tinder, and
Ailee Hogan all finished within twenty five seconds of each other. Rounding out the top-seven for the women's 6K were
Rebecca Barnes and
Paola Orozco, who were timed at 26:44.4 and 26:47.9, respectively.
The Pioneers compete in the Private College Championships next Saturday October 19, hosted by Concordia University (Wis.). The marquee meet will begin at 11 a.m.
