MEQUON, Wis. - Carroll's men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Private College Championships Saturday morning, hosted by Concordia University (Wis.). The men placed 3rd overall out of eight teams, with the women securing a 4th place finish in a 11-team field of runners on a challenging course.
The Pio men scored 61 points in the meet, which was just two points shy of 2nd-place St. Norbert College.
Ethan Weber led Carroll with an 8K time of 26:28.5 and a second-place finish overall
Charles Quast was close behind in 4th place, with a time of 26:47.5, while
Cameron Lotspeich was 12th with a time of 28:12.5.
Bailey Olson and Jullian Bica Harrison rounded out the top-five scorers Pioneer runners with times of 28:39.7 and 28:52.5, respectively. Completing the top seven runner for Carroll were Donavon Menningen and
Rogan Leistiko, who finished with times of 28:57.6 and 30:13.0, respectively.
On the women's side, the Pioneers finished with 73 points, 10 shy of St. Norbert's third-place total. Junior
Rebekah Buboltz finished 4th overall in the field with a time of 23:34.9. Less than two seconds later,
Keagan Knue crossed the line at 23:36.6 for a fifth-place finish. The next three runners to score points for the team finished beginning in 20th place, as
Hana Smith, Anika Tollerud, and
Grace Tinder all finished within thirty-five seconds of each other. Rounding out the top-seven for the women's 6K were
Sarah Tinder and
Ailee Hogan, who were timed at 25:46.6 and 25:57.0, respectively.
The Pioneers get a week off before they compete in the CCIW Championships on Saturday November 2, hosted by North Park University. The meet will begin at noon with runners eyeing a chance to run in the NCAA North Regional.
