ROCKFORD, Ill. - Carroll's women's bowling team opened their 2024-25 season at the Warhawk Classic over the weekend, hosted by UW-Whitewater. The Pioneers finished in seventh place out of the eight competing teams once the dust had settled on the Sunday's third and final day of the Tournament.

The Pios began the weekend Friday against Marian, falling by a total series score of 889-773. Carroll followed that up with an 802-771 loss to University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, before falling to conference foe Elmhurst 893-849. The Pioneers then ended the first day of competition on a positive note, defeating Carthage and the University of Indianapolis by a score of 818-801 and 779-749, respectively.

On the second day of the tournament, Carroll fell to Aurora 806-785, before losing to host school UW-Whitewater, 883-858. The Pios then got revenge on Marian, defeating the Sabres 879-845. They would then lose their final two matches of the day against Maryland-Eastern Shore and Elmhurst.

On Sunday's third and final day of competition, Carroll battled the University of Indianapolis in a best-of-seven match, losing the series by a 4-2 margin. Against Aurora, the two teams went the full seven games, before Aurora came out on top 4-3. The Pioneers closed the tournament with a 4-2 series win against Carthage.

Individually, Sophomore Ava Butt placed sixth overall, while Freshman Samantha Sciortino and Junior Hannah Barlett finished 15th and 23rd, respectively.

Carroll will be in action again next weekend when they'll compete in the annual Valpo Bowling Classic, hosted by Valparaiso University. That meet will take place at from Friday to Sunday at Stardust Bowl II in Valparaiso, Ind.
