WARRENVILLE, Ill. -
Carroll's men's and women's cross country teams competed at the annual College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championships on Saturday, with the Pioneer women finishing in sixth place, while the Pio men placed seventh out of the eight teams.

"Inspired was the word of the day, which was our mantra this whole week leading up to the Conference Championships," Carroll Head Cross Country Coach Shawn Thielitz said. "Everyone raced inspired today as we finished with 16 Lifetime PRs and five season-best times."

Carroll's women scored 132 points, which was 29 shy of the fifth-best score. Keagan Knue led the Pioneers with a 6K time of 22:23.09, which was the fourth-best individual time in the meet. Knue was named CCIW Women's First-Year Student-Athlete of the Meet at the conclusion of the event. Rebekah Buboltz added a 16th place finish with a time of 23:05.96. Hana Smith and Anika Tollerud finished together with times of 24:02.94 and 24:05.47, respectively, which was good for 35th and 36th place overall. Grace Tinder rounded out the Pios' team score with a time of 24:23.36, which placed 41st.

On the men's side, Carroll scored 193 points, which was 33 shy of the next-best score. Ethan Weber led the team with an 8K time of 25:46.33, which was 24th among all individuals. Austin Sanderfoot was second on the team with a 34th-place time of 26:17.66, while Charles Quast was 48th with a time of 26:49.55. Cameron Lotspeich and Bailey Olson rounded out the team score with times of 27:24.83 and 27:48.46, respectively.

As part of the annual All-Conference team, the CCIW selects one player from each school to represent their institution as the CCIW RESPECT Award recipient. This year's representative for the Pioneers' Cross Country teams is Charlie Quast and Brooke Davies. Quast is a senior from Fond du Lac, Wis., while Davies is a Sophomore, who hails from Grayslake, Ill.

The Pioneers will be in action again on November 16 when they'll take part in the NCAA North Regional at Bill Huyck Championship Course in Northfield, Minn.
