PEORIA, Ill. - The Carroll University men's golf team is currently fifth following the opening round of the prestigious three-day, nine-team College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Championship at WeaverRidge Golf Club on Thursday.
Evan Bridges fired a 1-over par 73 to tie for eighth place overall to lead Carroll, which totaled 309 on the par 72, 7,030-yard course. The consistent, standout first-round performance was highlighted by 14 pars with memorable birdies on the par 4, 381-yard ninth and par 5, 556-yard 18th.
TJ Walton shot a 4-over par 76 to tie for 16th for the Pioneers, who remain 24 strokes behind first-place Illinois Wesleyan.
Viggo Olsson and
Garrett Stokelbusch each followed with an 8-over par 80 to tie for 27th.
Charlie Krall carded a 9-over par 81 to tie for 32nd.
