ROCKFORD, Ill. - Carroll's women's golf team finished their regular season schedule in style Friday afternoon, winning the four-team Rockford Invitational. In what was their final tune-up before next week's CCIW Championships, the Pioneers shot a team score of 377 (+89), which was 102 strokes better than the second-best score.
Carroll boasted five of the top six individual scores, with those top six players all shooting under 100 for the day.
Tessa Lawson led the way, winning the event for the Pioneers with an 89 (+17).
Maddie O'Brien was second overall in the event, shooting a 92 (+20).
Lynea Sekany added a score of 97 (+25) for the Pioneers, while
Lauren Lostetter and
Leah Ribordy rounded out the Pios' team score with identical scores of 99 (+27).
The Pioneers will now prepare for the annual CCIW Championships, which will begin Thursday. The three-day event will take place at Metamora Fields GC in Metamora, Ill., with the action beginning at 8 a.m. each day.
