MOLINE, ILL. - Carroll women's bowling team claimed third place this weekend at the Viking Classic with a record of 5-1 and 5,083 total pins.
Carroll started off their weekend with five traditional matches, claiming a record of 4-1 on the first day. They found victory over Rockford University with a match score of 820-737 as well as some of their CCIW counterparts including Illinois Wesleyan (829-494), Aurora (850-787), and host team Augustana (918-906). However, they finished their first day with a loss against Central Missouri University with a score of 887-826.
Baker rounds began on Sunday, as the Pioneers triumphed over Carthage by a score of 840-766 but lost against Lewis University with a score of 950-909.
The Pioneers claimed the #4 seed for the 5-frame match play against #1 seed, Lewis University which resulted in a roll off tie breaker. After 8 frames, Carroll lost 4.5-3.5. They also played #3 Aurora in match play and won 4-1, placing Carroll in third.
Carroll's freshman Samantha Sciortino led the team in individual rankings 2nd overall and claimed her first All-Tournament Team. Sciortino had a total of 953 series for 5 games.
Hannah Bartlett finished in 7th place, just one pin shy of being in the top 5. 918 series for 5 games.
Allyson Will finished 9th with 901 series for 5 games.
Ava Butt finished in 15th place with 844 for 5 games.
Allison Bolda finished in 31st place with 639 series for 5 games.
The Carroll Pioneers will travel to Kenosha, WI on March 1st to play in the second CCIW Conference Invite hosted by Carthage College.
