FINAL RESULTS
LOCKPORT, ILL. - Carroll's women's bowling team competed at the Flyer Classic over the weekend, finishing with a 3-7 record and placing eighteenth out of the twenty-two competing teams.
In the first day of competition, Carroll claimed victory in the second baker round against Auroura University, by a score of 965-891. They also triumphed over Quincy University in the fourth baker round by a score of 791-493. However, the Pios fell to ranked teams such as North Carolina A&T State University (9th), Maryville University(10th), and Tulane University(16th).
Carroll began the second day with defeat in the first traditional round against Valparaiso University, by a score of 974-849. The Pios then lost to Marian University and Stephen F. Austin State University before defeating Augustana College by a score of 886-814. They finished Saturday with a loss to the 3rd-ranked team in the country, the University of Nebraska.
Carroll was led through the tournament by junior Hannah Bartlett, who finished 48th among 132 bowlers. Bartlett rolled an average of 191.40 during the weekend, reading scores of 170, 224, 168, 215, and 180.
Freshman, Samantha Sciortino also showed well as she was trailing Bartlett in 49th place. Scorintno rolled an average of 191.60 across five rounds reading scores of 239, 216, 138, 183, and 177.
The Pioneers will hit the road again on February 15th as they return to Backyard Bowl in Milan, Ill. to play in the Viking Classic hosted by Augustana College
