Carroll Advances To Championship Sunday

WESTMONT, Ill. - Carroll's women's bowling team advanced to the final day of the 2025 CCIW Tournament on Saturday as the number two seed at the event. The Pios lost to third-seeded Aurora University in the opening round, before eliminating fourth-seeded Elmhurst University from the Tournament with a win that advanced them to Sunday morning's competition in the double-elimination event.

In the first match of the day, Carroll won the first poimt in a traditional five-game format, 843-808. The Pios were led by Allyson Will, who threw a 226 game. Carroll would lose the next point 846-801 in the five-game baker format, before also losting the third and deciding point in the best of seven games, losing in six games, putting them in the losers bracket.

In Saturday afternoon's elimination match against the host team, Elmhurst, the Pioneers got off to a good start, winning the first point in a traditional five-game format, 854-771. They would lose the second point in a five-game baker format, 852-754, but advanced to Sunday's round by winning the deciding point in the best of seven game match, winning in five games. The Pios threw scores of 208-202-205-210 to close out the match.

Will led all bowlers on the day with a 203 average, as she was the only student-athlete to average more than 200 pins per game, knocking down 406 in two games. Fellow Pio Hanna Bartlett was second among all individuals with a two-game average of 199.5. The CCIW Student-Athlete of the Year Ava Butt was third on the team with an average of 169, while Hope Minett rolled an average of 159 through two games.

Carroll will now face off with top-seeded Marian University in an elimination match Sunday at 8 a.m. The loser of that match will be eliminated, while the winner will battle Aurora for the CCIW Championship and an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. Day two of the tournament will once again take place at Suburbanite Bowl in Westmont, Ill.
