MORRIS, Ill. - Carroll's women's golf team won the one-round 'Melee In Morris' Wednesday afternoon, finishing first, ahead of both conference-foe Carthage College and Joliet Junior College. The Pioneers finished with a total team score of +82, which was seven strokes better than Carthage's second-place score. The event took place at Nettle Creek CC.
Leading the was for Carroll was
Lynea Sekany, who finished with the second-best score in the meet with an 87 (+16), which was just one stroke shy of the winning score. Sekany also led the Pioneers with six pars on the day, with three coming on both the front and back nine.
Maddie O'Brien was just one stroke off that pace, as she finished with four total pars and a final score of +17, which was the third-best score on the day.
Lauren Lostetter added an eighth-place finish with a score of +23, while
Tessa Lawson and
Annika Wertheim rounded out the team score with a +26 and +30, respectively.
Carroll will be in action again on Friday, when they'll take part in the two-day UW-Whitewater Spring Invitational. That tournament will take place at Janesville Riverside Golf Course in Janesville, Wis.
