WARRENVILLE, Ill. - The Carroll University women's cross country team turned in a solid performance at the Gil Dodds Invitational on Friday, placing 10th overall in the 15-team field. The Pioneers finished with a team score of 230 in the 6K race.

In her first race as a Pioneer, Allena O'Connell led the way, crossing the finish line in 22:57.9 to place 17th overall. Hana Smith followed with a time of 24:14.2, finishing 43rd. Norah Yang (25:39.1), Kyla Laabs (25:40.8), and Keagan Knue (26:14.5) rounded out the Pioneers' scoring five, placing 77th, 79th, and 91st, respectively.

Paola Orozco (26:48.9) and Sarah Stinder (27:23.6) completed Carroll's top seven. Rebecca Barnes (27:25.1), Abby Burie (27:26.6), Brooke Davies (27:41.7), Mei-Lin Sicinski (30:40.4), and Skylar Ford (32:37.9) also competed for the Pioneers.

The meet featured a competitive field led by the University of Chicago, which captured the team title with 19 points. Carroll finished ahead of five teams in the field while gaining valuable experience against competition from across the Midwest.

The Pioneers will look to build on Friday's performance when they return to action on Friday, September 25 in De Pere, Wis.
