Pioneers Finish with Strong Team Showings at Gene Davis Invitational

APPLETON, Wis. - Both Carroll Cross Country teams competed at the Gene Davis Invitational at Reid Golf Course today, with both finishing strong as a team.

Carroll University's women's cross country team delivered a standout performance at the Gene Davis Invitational, earning a third-place finish with 81 points in a competitive field. The Pioneers posted a combined time of 2:06:08.20, averaging 25:13 per runner, and demonstrated depth and consistency throughout the lineup.

Leading the way was Keagan Knue, who clocked 24:07.0 to secure 17th place overall. She was followed closely by Hana Smith at 24:28.9, giving Carroll two runners in the top 20. Veteran presence came from Sarah Tinder, finishing in 25:41.8, while Paola Orozco and Kyla Laabs rounded out the scoring five with times of 25:50.1 and 26:00.4, respectively. Additional contributors such as Rebecca Barnes and Abby Burie provided valuable depth, finishing just seconds behind the scoring group.

Carroll's ability to maintain tight splits between its second through fifth runners was a key factor in securing third place, ahead of Wisconsin Lutheran and Bay College. The team demonstrated resilience and pack-running strategy, which will be crucial as they prepare for the upcoming CCIW Championships. With strong individual performances and a balanced team effort, the Pioneers continue to build momentum in the heart of the season.


Men's 8K Recap

The Carroll men's squad also impressed, earning a fifth-place finish with 126 points against a competitive field that included Lawrence, Wisconsin Lutheran, and Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The team's combined time of 2:16:11.80 averaged 27:14 per runner, reflecting steady improvement and depth across the lineup.

Ethan Weber led the Pioneers with a time of 26:14.8, placing 25th overall and setting the tone for the team. He was supported by Bailey Olson (26:50.4) and Sam Daley (27:11.9), both of whom delivered strong mid-pack finishes. Julian Bica Harrison (27:31.1) and Luke Adams (28:23.6) completed the scoring five, while Donovan Menningen and Rogan Leistiko added depth with times under 29 minutes.

Carroll's men showed promise in their ability to maintain competitive splits and push through a challenging course. Their fifth-place finish placed them ahead of Ripon and Bay College, signaling progress as the season advances. With the CCIW Championships on the horizon, the Pioneers will look to tighten their pack and continue lowering times. The team's blend of experienced runners and emerging talent positions them well for a strong finish to the season.

The next race for the Pioneers comes at the Augustana Interregional Invite in Rock Island, Ill. next Saturday.
