Carroll Women's Cross Country Places Fourth at Ken Weidt Classic

MEQUON, Wis. - Carroll University's women's cross country team turned in a solid performance at the Ken Weidt Classic on September 13, hosted by Concordia University Wisconsin. Competing on the CUW Cross Country Course, the Pioneers placed 4th out of 10 teams with a total time of 2:11:42.4 and an average 6K pace of 26:20.5.

Leading the way for Carroll was Keagan Knue, who finished 14th overall with a time of 25:23.1, followed closely by Hana Smith in 16th at 25:42.3. Brooke Davies (26:31.3), Kyla Laabs (27:02.6), and Sarah Tinder (27:05.3) rounded out the scoring five, all finishing within a minute of each other to secure the team's top-five placement. Anika Tollerud also contributed with a time of 27:18.6, showing the team's depth and consistency.

The meet featured strong competition, with Concordia (Wis.) taking the team title behind a dominant 1-2 individual finish and a team average of 23:39.0. Despite the fast field, Carroll held their own, outperforming regional programs like Indiana Northwest, Moody Bible Institute, and Illinois Valley.

The Pioneers' tight pack running and steady pacing suggest a promising trajectory as they head into the heart of the fall season. Their next competition takes place next Saturday as they head to Warrenville, Ill. as they race in the Gil Dodds Classic.
