First year Carroll College head football coach Henny Hiemenz completed his coaching staff with the hiring of three assistant coaches.

Hiemenz reached back into the Pioneer past when he tabbed Mark Krzykowski as the new defensive coordinator.  Krzykowski, a New Berlin, Wis. (West) native, was a three year member of the Pioneer football team (1991-1993) and two year member of the track and field team after transferring from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Krzykowski joins the Carroll staff after a successful stint at Elmhurst College, where he was an assistant football coach (2001-2005) and head track and field coach (2005-2006).  In addition to football duties, he will also be an assistant coach with the track and field team under head coach Shawn Thielitz.

Hiemenz also added Michael Haar and Brent Thoen to the staff.  Haar will coach the defensive line while Thoen will lead the linebackers.

Haar, a University of Wisconsin-La Crosse graduate, is a physical education teacher at Wauwatosa West High School.  He has coached at several high schools over the past decade including La Crosse Central, Riverside and most recently Wauwatosa West as the defensive coordinator.

Thoen was a four year starting linebacker at Winona State University.  He was a two time all-conference selection and was a member of three conference championship teams and two NCAA Division II playoff teams.  He joins the Pioneer staff after two years as the linebackers coach at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The Pioneers kick-off their ten game schedule on Sept. 2 when they host Carthage College at 6 p.m.
