Box Score 2 (Kissimmee, Fla.) – The Carroll University softball team pounded Kean University by a score of 10-4 then edged Baldwin Wallace College in a 3-2 nail-biter for a doubleheader sweep on Wednesday in Florida.
The Pioneers exploded for 14 hits against Kean, led by a 3-for-3, two runs driven in performance from Shelby Sommer. Payton Sampson led with three RBI's on 1-of-2 at the plate while Kara McCaughrean went 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI's.
Hannah Miller picked up the win in relief. She went 3.1 innings.
Sommer then took to the mound against Baldwin Wallace and went the distance for the win. She gave up eight hits and just one earned run.
Kelly Strasser was the offensive hero as she went 2-for-2 at the plate including the game winning RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 2-2 deadlock.
