Box Score (Lake Forest, Ill.) – Shelby Sommer and Hannah Miller combined to pitch a 1-hit shutout and lead the Carroll University softball team to a 2-0 victory over Illinois College in an elimination game of the Midwest Conference Tournament.
 
With the win the Pioneers advance to Saturday at 10 a.m. and await the loser of today's 4 p.m. game between Lake Forest College and Monmouth College. Saturday's 10 a.m. game will be an elimination game, with the winner advancing to the championship round.
 
Carroll scored one run each in the third and fifth innings. Kelly Sykes doubled in a run in the third while Kelly Strasser recorded a run-scoring double in the fifth.
 
Sommer started the game and went 5 2/3 innings before giving way to Miller, who went 1 2/3 for the save.
