Box Score KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Freshman left fielder Haylee Arroyo (Mayville, Wis.) went 2-for-4 and scored a run but the Carroll University softball team lost to Franklin & Marshall College 4-1 to begin its fifth day of the Rebel Spring Games at the Osceola Softball Complex on Thursday afternoon.
It was the third consecutive nonconference loss for the Pioneers, who dropped to 3-6 on their spring break trip and 6-7 overall.
Carroll's lone run came in the top of the first inning as Arroyo singled, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by senior shortstop Megan Kohlmetz (Appleton, Wis.), stole third and scored on a throwing error.
Franklin & Marshall, which improved to 2-5 overall, scored three unearned runs in the momentum-shifting bottom of the first as the result of two costly errors.
Junior right-hander Katie Wenger pitched a five-hitter with three strikeouts and three walks en route to a complete-game victory for the Diplomats.
Senior first baseman Kelly Strasser (Waterford, Wis.), sophomore Annika Graves (Muskego, Wis.) and freshman center fielder Rosalie Jrolf (Dousman, Wis.) each added a hit for Carroll, which committed four errors.
Freshman right-hander Lexy Kemnitzer (McFarland, Wis.) scattered six hits with two strikeouts and two walks through six complete innings in taking the loss.
