Box Score IRVING, Texas - Sophomore midfielder Ariannah Ritter (Sun Prairie, Wis.) had a season-high six unassisted goals and an assist but it wasn't enough as the Carroll University women's lacrosse team lost to University of Dallas 21-13 in the opening game of its spring break trip at Crusader Field on Thursday afternoon.
It was the second nonconference road loss of the early season for Carroll, which dropped to 1-3 overall.
The game remained tied 3-3 early in the pivotal first half but University of Dallas responded with a key 10-4 run over the course of the final 20 minutes to build momentum - including three unanswered goals during a 56-second stretch.
It proved to be the turning point as the Crusaders outscored Carroll 8-6 in the second half.
Freshman attacker Darby Henjum (Rosemount, Minn.) followed with five goals - including two in the opening five minutes - for the Pioneers, who were outshot 42-19 - including a 30-19 shot-on-goal margin. Graduate attacker Donna January (Andower, Minn.) and sophomore midfielder Katie Majewski (Mundelein, Ill.) each contributed one goal.
January registered a team-best two assists with senior midfielder Amanda Gibble (South Elgin, Ill.) and sophomore defender Natasha Niles (Hydesville, Calif.) each adding one for Carroll, which committed 31 turnovers.
Sophomore goalkeeper Shelby Schoob (Sun Prairie, Wis.) made nine saves in going distance for the Pioneers.
Sophomore attacker Lexi Leite had a game-high seven goals and three assists for University of Dallas, which improved to 2-7 overall.
