Carroll pulls out dramatic victory

Anderson's two-run double in seventh lifts Pioneers

Box Score KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Freshman second baseman Elaine Anderson (Bristol, Wis.) delivered a game-winning two-out, two-run double to right center field in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Carroll University softball team defeated College of Mount St. Joseph 6-5 to begin its final day of the Rebel Spring Games at Oren Brown Park on Friday morning.
It was the third one-run nonconference victory of the season for Carroll, which improved to 4-7 on its spring trip and 7-8 overall.
Anderson went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and scored a run to help power a 12-hit attack for the Pioneers, who broke a 2-2 tie by scoring twice in the sixth and seventh. 
Senior designated player Hannah Miller (Chicago, Ill.) collected an RBI single to right field in the first and a run-scoring triple to right-center field in the fourth. Sophomore pinch hitter Veronica Rodriguez (South Bend, Ind.) followed with a two-run double to right field in the sixth to set the stage for Anderson's last-inning heroics.
Senior shortstop Megan Kohlmetz (Appleton, Wis.) added two hits for Carroll, which stranded five baserunners.
Freshman right-hander Lexy Kemnitzer (McFarland, Wis.) allowed three earned runs on nine hits with three  strikeouts and one walk through six complete innings to earn a victory. Miller yielded one earned run on two hits in the seventh to pick up a save.
Senior left fielder Morgan Hoehn went 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored a run for Mount St. Joseph, which dropped to 8-4 overall.
