Box Score MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - Despite a valiant fourth-quarter comeback, the Carroll University men's lacrosse team lost to Cornell College 10-9 in a nonconference game Wednesday night.
It was the fourth road loss of the season for Carroll, which dropped to 0-9 overall.
Junior attackman
Jeff Schultz (Franklin, Wis.) finished with a hat trick, team-high four assists, 13 groundballs and five caused turnovers for Carroll, which generated its second-highest goal total of the season. Sophomore midfielder
Michael Peters (Chicago, Ill.) contributed three goals, six groundballs and caused a turnover.

Paul Kerchberger (Deer Park, Ill.), sophomore attackman
Cordell McNamara (Waukesha, Wis.) and freshman midfielder
Zack Mertens (Grayslake, Ill.) each added a goal for the Pioneers, who won 10 faceoffs and fielded 55 groundballs but were outshot by a 34-27 momentum-shifting margin.
Schultz scored on an unassisted shot with 4:58 remaining in the contest but Carroll couldn't get any closer.
Junior goalkeeper
Abe Escarda (Sammamish, Wash.) registered eight saves in playing the entire 60 minutes for Carroll, which scored three goals in the second, third and fourth quarters.
Senior midfielder Caleb Moen scored a game-high four goals to lead Cornell, which improved to 2-3 overall.
