Lexy Kemnitzer (McFarland, Wis.) pitched a six-hitter with three strikeouts and no walks through five complete innings as the Carroll University softball team defeated Augustana College 5-3 in the finale of a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin doubleheader at Carver Field on Tuesday night.
The tough, hard-fought effort secured a second consecutive conference sweep for Carroll, which improved to 4-2 in the highly contested league standings and 17-10 overall.
The Pioneers, who earned a victory over traditional national powerhouse program University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for the first time since April 25, 2002 in the finale of a nonconference twin bill on Sunday, have won seven of their last eight games.
Senior catcher
Veronica Rodriguez (South Bend, Ind.) drove in Carroll's first run in the bottom of the second on an RBI sacrifice fly and had a run-scoring single in the fourth.
As the contest remained tied 2-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth, Carroll answered with three runs in its half of the inning as junior left fielder
Rosalie Jrolf (Dousman, Wis.) came through with a clutch RBI groundout while freshman designated hitter
Katelyn Schneider (Sussex, Wis.) and freshman shortstop
Madison Wagner (Harrison, Wis.) scored as the result of an error.

Kaylee Learman (Greenwood, Wis.) pitched the final two innings, yielding one earned run on two hits to help preserve a victory.
Augustana, which dropped to 1-5 in conference and 12-16 overall, scored its final run in the seventh on a wild pitch but couldn't get any closer.
