Good Effort from Women’s Track Gives them Fourth

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The Carroll University women's indoor track and field team had a good afternoon scoring 41 points and finishing in fourth place at the UW-Oshkosh Early Bird invite on Saturday. Vanessa Uitenbroek smashed her school record in the shot put event to hold her spot at the top of the DIII rankings in the event.
 
In track events, Victoria Watson and Grace Tinder supplied points for Carroll in the 400m dash and the 800m run, respectively. In distance events, Natalie Parent and Sam Knutilla combined for five points across the mile run and the 3000m run. The 4x400 team earned five team points, as Watson, Savannah Krzykowski, Grace Tinder, and Kayla Hirschmann combined for a time of 4:43.35.
 
In field events, Jessica Mueller gained 0.09 meters in her pole vault height from last weekend, giving the team six points. Sydney Halverson finished sixth in the high jump to give Carroll three points. Against Division-I throwers from the University of Auburn, Vanessa Uitenbroek finished second and smashed her school record PR with a 14.64-meter toss. Maria Falk added three team points in the event as well.
 
Carroll sets its sights on the new year, for their next meet on Saturday, January 21 at Wisconsin-Whitewater.
