WAUKESHA, Wis. – Steven Hermsen and Alli Spitzer of Carroll University men's and women's track and field were selected as 2022 CoSIDA Men's and Women's Track and Field First-Team Academic All-District recipients late last week. Both Hermsen and Spitzer are now eligible to be nominated for Academic All-American.
 
Hermsen, a senior from De Pere, Wisconsin, makes his second-straight appearance on this list. Academically, Hermsen is a 2021 First Team CoSIDA Academic All-American®, the 2021 USTFCCCA Men's Scholar Field Athlete of the Year, and the 2022 DIII Men's Indoor Track and Field Elite 90 winner. Hermsen recently captured his second consecutive National Championship in the discus last week, becoming a two-time National Champion and a three-time All-American in indoor and outdoor seasons.
 
Spitzer, a senior from Casco, Wisconsin, makes her first appearance on this list. Academically, Spitzer has a 4.0 GPA, and has received two CCIW Elite 25 awards in the first year of the award cycle. Spitzer is a 10-time CCIW Academic All-Conference recipient across cross-country and indoor/outdoor track and field. Athletically, Spitzer is a 13-time CCIW All-Conference performer, including six-time indoor and six-times outdoor in track and field.
