Women’s Track and Field Collects 115.5 Points at UW-Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Carroll University women's indoor track and field team scored over 115 points and finished in second place at the Karl Schlender Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday afternoon. Vanessa Uitenbroek had a pair of first-place finishes while Mary Quinn finished with one victory, a runner-up spot, and three total lifetime PRs.
 
In running events, Quinn finished in first place in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.50 in the finals after a time of 9.54 in the prelims. Miranda Cogan added two team points in the same event with a seventh-place finish. Elizabeth Reddeman finished in second during the women's 3K race, followed by Alison Klostermann in sixth. Lexi Elegbede-Peer was the lone Pio to make finals in the 60m dash, and finished fourth with a time of 8.18. Victoria Watson and Anika Tollerud earned six total team points in the 400m and 600m, respectively. Sam Knutilla added two team points in the mile run as well. The two Pioneer 4x400 teams finished first and second to earn 18 total points in the event.
 
In field events, Uitenbroek first earned first in the weight throw event with a toss of 16.47 meters. Cate Gudaitis, Maria Falk, and Grace Kelly added a combined 11 more points to Carroll's total in the event as well. Uitenbroek won the shot put event with a 13.99-meter throw. Falk, Gudaitis, and Brucci all finished inside the top eight as well. Quinn landed a lifetime PR in the shot put as well with a 9.04-meter throw. Quinn finished second in the long jump with a distance of 5.09 meters for her third and final PR. Jessica Mueller and Madeline Simpson finished the pole vault event with second and sixth, respectively. Sydney Halversen rounded out the field scoring 5.5 points in the high jump.
 
Carroll will return the first weekend in February with a two-day meet at Carthage College.
