BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Carroll University women's indoor track and field team finished in seventh place with spectacular individual performances at the 2023 CCIW Indoor Track and Field Championships. Mary Quinn earned Women's Field Athlete of the Meet, while Vanessa Uitenbroek won back-to-back indoor shot put titles.
 
Quinn earns the nod after her school record-breaking performances in the pentathlon on Friday, breaking both the overall record and the 60m hurdles record in the process. In track events, Quinn also participated in the open 60m hurdles event, finishing in sixth place with a time of 9.22.  
 
In field events, Uitenbroek and the shot putters put up 19 team points. Uitenbroek tied the CCIW meet record with a 14.53m throw in her final attempt. Uitenbroek had already secured first place, but also finished with two more throws over 14 meters. Maria Falk and Cate Gudaitis hit new PRs to finish third and sixth, respectively. In the high jump, Sydney Halversen tied for fifth with a 1.45m jump.
 
A select group of Pioneers will travel around the region next week trying to improve their marks to qualify for the 2023 NCAA DIII Indoor Track and Field National Championships.
