Vanessa Uitenbroek becomes Carroll University women's indoor track and field's first ever indoor women's shot put thrower to become an All-American. Uitenbroek finished eighth in the event at the 2023 NCAA DIII Indoor Track and Field National Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Maria Falk ended her indoor season with an 11th-place finish.
Uitenbroek, a junior from Kaukauna, Wisconsin, found her best throw on her second attempt in her flight. Uitenbroek landed her shot 14.20 meters out. Making finals, Uitenbroek recorded another 14-meter throw, this one landing 14.07. Uitenbroek is now a two-time All-American, including her runner-up finish in the Discus at the 2022 NCAA outdoor championships.
Falk, a sophomore from Oshkosh, Wisconsin, opened up in the first flight with her best throw of the afternoon. Falk measured in at 13.44 meters with her first-ever National Championship meet throw. Falk was passed in the second flight of the event and missed finals by two spots.
