WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Carroll University women's outdoor track and field team went up against tough competition in preparation for conference, by going to the Drake Alternative Meet hosted by Wisconsin-Whitewater Friday.
Vanessa Uitenbroek finished first in two events while several Pioneers recorded personal best marks.
In track events,
Taylor Olund,
Victoria Watson,
Kaitlyn Gregory, and
Miranda Cogan all PR'd in events across the 100 and 200m. Cogan also put up a personal best in the 400m hurdles race.
Ani Tollerud and Watson also finished sub 1:05.00 in the 400m race.
Rebekah Buboltz,
Ellie King, and
Savannah Krzykowski all accomplished new personal bests in the 800m.
Elizabeth Reddeman finished fifth in the 1500m with a time of 5:00.26 for a new PR, and
Natalie Parent,
Samantha Knutilla,
Ailee Hogan, and
Lauren Hull collected new personal-record times as well.
In field events, Uitenbroek won the discus event with a throw of 46.77m for a new season high.
Cate Gudaitis snagged a new personal best at 44.77m in the same event to finish fourth. In the hammer throw, Uitenbroek finished second with a 50.20m throw and
Maria Falk PR'd and finished eighth.
Kaitlyn Brucci finished with a new personal long throw in the javelin, and Uitenbroek and Falk finished in the top eight in shot put to round out the throws.
The Pioneers will face the rest of the CCIW next week, May 5-6, at the 2023 CCIW Track and Field Outdoor Championships, hosted for the first time ever at Carroll University's Dennis Punches Track and Field.
