NAPERVILLE, ILL. – The Carroll University women's outdoor track and field team sent a group of throwers to the Carius-Gregory Invitational on Thursday in North Central. Vanessa Uitenbroek, Cate Gudaitis, and Maria Falk competed to increase their marks prior to the 2023 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships.
 
In the hammer, Uitenbroek finished with a mark of 51.28m on her first attempt. Uitenbroek passed on her final three turns in the finals after two more throws in her second flight.
 
In the discus, Uitenbroek took four throws and finished with a mark of 43.83m. Three of Uitenbroek's throws were at least 43 meters. Gudaitis took three throws and hit 41.08m.
 
In the shot put, Uitenbroek took all three chances in her flight and all three chances in finals. Uitenbroek landed a 13.26m throw for her official mark. Falk's first attempt of her six were the best, landing a 12.75m toss.
 
The same Pioneers will try to increase their distances next week at potentially the Augustana Twilight Qualifier or at UW-La Crosse's Final Qualifier.
