ROCHESTER, NY –
Vanessa Uitenbroek and
Maria Falk of Carroll University women's outdoor track and field competed in the shot put event at the 2023 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Rochester, New York. Uitenbroek finished in eighth place to claim her second All-American title of the weekend, while Falk finished in 22
nd.
Uitenbroek, a junior from Kaukauna, Wisconsin, entered the competition as the 12th-ranked thrower, and the leader of the first flight. Uitenbroek recorded an outdoor personal best of 14.11m. Uitenbroek finished her flight in second place, eagerly awaiting a chance at Finals. Uitenbroek entered the finals with the sixth-longest distance but fell back to eighth after the first round of throws. Uitenbroek had a 13.66m throw in the finals on her fifth attempt. This is Uitenbroek's second All-American title in the shot put, after earning her first during the indoor season in March. Altogether, Uitenbroek is now a four-time All-American.
Falk, a sophomore from Oshkosh, Wisconsin, received three throws in the first flight and landed an 11.66m throw on her second attempt. It took a 13.97m throw to reach the finals in this year's event.
Uitenbroek will finish the weekend in the hammer throw on Saturday, May 27 starting at 10:00 AM Eastern.
