KENOSHA, Wis. - The Carroll University men's track and field team placed third in the Firebird First Invitational (hosted by Carthage College) at Tarble Athletic Center on Saturday.
It was the second indoor competition of the early season for Carroll, which generated 67 points in the nine-team competition.
Ethan Zilisch, a freshman, tied for first place in the high jump with a personal-best height of 1.85 meters to earn his first collegiate victory in the process.
Nathan Raatz, a junior, followed with a victory in the 400-meter run (51.78) and was second in the 200 (23.54) for the Pioneers.
Other top-10 individual finishes for Carroll were:
Brady Reusser, second in shot put (14.61m)(personal best) and ninth in weight throw (14.28m);
Jimmy Hinkley, third in weight throw (17.44m);
Will Campbell, third in shot put (14.18m) and fifth in weight throw (15.52m) (both personal bests);
Gabe Smith, sixth in shot put (12.95m) and sixth in weight throw (15.30m);
Bailey Olson, seventh in 3,000 (9:47.01);
Jared Kniola, seventh in 55 hurdles (8.86) and
Ethan Weber, ninth in the mile (4:41.96)
Carroll's 4x400 relay team (comprised of Weber, Kniola,
Patrick Signore and
Sawyer Caves) finished eighth (3:51.24).
