LOCKPORT, Ill. - The Carroll University women's bowling team gained valuable experience as it competed in the challenging, highly competitive Flyer Classic over the weekend (hosted by Lewis University).
Carroll placed 19th in the three-day, 20-team event, finishing with a 3-10 overall record and amassing 10,514 total pins.
The Pioneers earned their first victory versus intra-state College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin rival Carthage College in traditional match play (826-755). The team's other two victories came against Dominican University.
Ava Butt, a freshman from Wautoma, Wis., placed 40th overall in the 124-bowler field to top the list of top individuals for Carroll, finishing with a five-game combined total of 868 while averaging 175.60 per game.
Hannah Bartlett, a sophomore from Aurora, Ill., followed in 47th with a five-game 836, averaging 167.20 in the process.
Kelsey Aviles, a freshman from Antioch, Ill., was 50th with a five-game 830 and 166 average.
Hope Minett, a sophomore from La Crosse, Wis., took 78th with a four-game combined total of 640 for the Pioneers.
Emilie Glosemeyer, a sophomore from Eagle, Wis., was 82nd with a four-game total of 604.
