KENOSHA, Wis. - The Carroll University men's track and field team continued to showcase its talent, depth and potential by responding with a strong fourth-place finish at the Tadd Metzger Invitational (hosted by intra-state CCIW rival Carthage College) at Tarble Arena over the weekend.
Carroll generated 73 points in the confidence-building two-day indoor meet, which was powered by one individual title, three second-place finishes and three third-place efforts.
Nathan Raatz continued his standout season by winning the 800-meter run to lead the Pioneers, finishing in a time of 1:58.24.
Spencer Kirsteatter placed second in the 3,000, clocking in with a personal-best time of 8:47.79,
Brady Reusser contributed a second-place finish in the shot put with a personal-best distance of (14.76 meters) and
Jimmy Hinkley was second in weight throw (17.37m).
Other individuals delivering critical top-eight finishes for the Pioneers were:
Eber Lopez, third in 600 (1:31.66) (personal best);
Jared Kniola, third in 55 hurdles (8.51) (personal best);
Austin Sanderfoot, third in 3,000 (8:47.90) (personal best);
Will Campbell, fifth in shot put (13.80m) and fifth in weight throw (15.26m);
Ethan Weber, sixth in 800 (2:03.03);
Sawyer Caves, sixth in 600 (1:33.65) and
Gabe Smith, seventh in weight throw (14.60m).
Carroll's 4x400 relay team followed with a fourth-place finish (3:39.03)
