Box Score MADISON, Wis. - Carroll men's lacrosse dropped heartbreaker on Wednesday night, losing to Edgewood College 11-10. Carroll (1-3) was outscored 4-2 in the final period, including the go-ahead goal with :41 seconds remaining to finalize the defeat on the road.
Goalie Jake Gehl collected 17 saves in the contest, a season high. Six different Pioneers scored, including a hat trick by Brady Mollesen. Sophomore Jake Wright led the Carroll defense with seven ground balls, while Brady Raczkowski and LukeBridges both collected five apiece for the Pios.
Carroll was on the defensive for much of the first half, as Edgewood took 26 shots to Carroll's 18. However, Carroll held strong on the defensive end and capitalized on the few opportunities they had, scoring six goals on their 18 shots. Brady Mollesen scored two goals in the first and Luke Bridges tallied one more. In the second, the Pioneers remained deadlocked with the Eagles as they went into halftime knotted up at six.
Nick White, assisted by Brady Conwell, and Brady Molleson tallied goals less than a minute apart to continue the offensive momentum and build a Pioneers lead once again. Edgewood cut into the lead with a late goal in the third, but Carroll opened the fourth with two more goals at the hands of Brady Conwell and Zachary Szuba to build Carroll's largest lead of the contest at 10-7. However, Edgewood rattled off four goals over the last eight-and-a-half minutes, including the dagger with 41 seconds to play to send Carroll home with a crushing defeat.
Carroll begins their Spring Break trip in LaGrange, Ga. On Sunday, March 10 as they take on LaGrange College as part of a three-game road trip down south.
