WHEATON, Ill. - The Carroll University men's track and field team finished seventh at the 12-team Wheaton Twilight on Saturday.
Jimmy Hinkley won the hammer throw with a sixth-attempt season-best distance of 60.45 meters (198-4) to help lead Carroll, which scored 40 points.
The memorable accomplishment took on added significance as it established a school record, shattering his own prior mark of 60.04 meters. He is currently ranked sixth in NCAA Division III in the event.
Nathan Raatz followed with a victory in the 800-meter run, clocking in with a time of 1 minute, 56.64 seconds.
Other individuals finishing within the top eight for Carroll were:
Peter Marra, fourth in 110 hurdles (15.60) and fifth in 400 hurdles (57.85);
Brady Reusser, fifth in discus 43.55m (142-10) and fifth in shot put 13.88m (45-6.5) and
Will Campbell, sixth in discus 43.47m (142-7).
