FINAL RESULTS
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - For the fourth time in his storied career, Carroll University Graduate Student
Steven Hermsen is an All-American in the Discus, finishing as the National Runner-Up with a second-place throw of 55.14m (180-11) during day one of the 2024 NCAA Division-III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. A three-time National Champion in that event, Hermsen was vying to become the first four-time winner in the event in D-III history. He remains one of just 28 student-athletes in the history of Division-III to win a single event at least three times in a career.
Seeded third entering the event, Hermsen's second-place throw came on his fifth of six attempts on the day. He finished 0.06m shy of the National Champion throw of 55-20m from UW-Eau Claire's Yakob Ekoue. Hermsen's throw was the top mark of any CCIW student-athlete, edging out 2024 CCIW Champion Joseph White of Carthage by 0.21m.
An 11-time National qualifier across all events, this marks Hermsen's seventh All-American performance of his career. His weekend is not finished, as he'll compete in the Men's Shot Put on Friday at 1:30 p.m. ET in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He enters that event seeded 12th among the 22 competing individuals.
